We understand that purchasing certain kinds of home health care products such as wheelchairs, power wheelchairs and motor scooters can be a significant expense. This equipment is important to you and money or the lack of it shouldn’t get in your way! There are various funding options that should be considered.
Funding by the Assistive Devices Program (ADP)
Most notable is the Assistive Devices Program (ADP), a program operated by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care. It provides funding to Ontario residents who have long-term physical disabilities and who require mobility devices and other assistive devices. ADP funds manual and power wheelchairs, walkers and other mobility aids. The ADP covers a percentage of the price and the applicant pays the portion not covered by the ADP.
Handi-House is a registered vendor of the ADP. We’re happy to assist you in the process of applying to the ADP. Please contact us for more information.
Even with partial funding from the ADP, the dollar portion not covered by the ADP can often be significant. Not everyone has private health insurance to cover a significant percentage of the portion not funded by the ADP. That’s where we come in. If you require a mobility device and you are deemed to be eligible to receive funding from ADP but are concerned about paying the amount not covered by ADP, then speak to us. On a case by case basis, we can consider your situation and may be able to offer an extended payment plan that suits both of us.
